Instructions: Assume that you are a Department of Homeland Security staff officer who must prepare a professional development presentation for fellow staff officers. Select an actual emergency that required a government response. Select an agency that responded to the emergency and assess that agency’s actions. The agency could be a government administration or a specific agency within a particular level of government (federal, state, or local).
Prepare a PowerPoint briefing to analyze the actions of the agency. Note strengths and weaknesses as well as required coordination with outside agencies. At a minimum, the case study should contain the following information:
Introduction
Historical overview
Description of the emergency, including applicable theoretical considerations
Assessment or appraisal of the emergency
Proposed intervention and rationale
Actual or expected outcome or resolution of the emergency
Additional recommendations
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.
