4 short questions

Question 1:(300 words, one reference) 
Even though you have been moderately successful, you are not “coming along” in your career as quickly as either your boss or you had hoped. Two years ago, becoming the regional sales manager looked like it was about three years away. Now it seems like it could be five years away. You frequently overhear your boss and his boss saying, “We have plenty of good managers but few real leaders.” The inference is that you and your colleagues either do not have, or have not shown, “the right stuff” of leadership. What does it mean to be a leader? Can it be learned? How might you demonstrate it for your superiors? What specific actions could you take that have been shown to help build real leadership capability?

One of the more difficult moments is when a team first meets and tries to figure out what they are supposed to do and how they will work together. You have just been assigned to a new team, but after all the members arrive at the first meeting you find no one really wants to say much and you fear this team has a good chance of failing. If your goal is to help make this group a highperformance team, what strategies would you recommend to get them kick-started and on their way to being effective?

Not every business situation requires the use of teams! Provide some examples that demonstrate when and when not to use teams.

This discussion question will help you prepare for your CLA2 paper and final CLA2 PPP. Read the CLA2 assignment listed in week 16 of the course. Then, please provide an outline that itemizes the concepts that you will include in your CLA2 paper and final PPP. Please be sure to include concepts learned in the course and any information from your CLA1 paper if applicable. Provide some brief details for each item that is outlined.

Write a paper that explains the following: (1) three to four important concepts you have learned throughout this seven-week course(The topic of the course is management and strategy); (2) identify the two to three concepts you would like to apply to your work setting and how you will go about implementing them; (3) identify the key elements of your plan to strengthen your practice of leadership.
