With Agamben’s part of The Church and The Kingdom slated for this Thursday (April 21), it occurs to me to suggest two possible paths for a short written response. (. . . suggesting that you choose one)
Perhaps the more obvious one to me (but one that’s maybe not so easily addressed in ‘short’ form) would concern the prospective role and possible significance of the visual art included (and in the way that it is included) with the text. . . . along the lines of how one might theorize the ways in which written text and visual text are intended to speak (or not speak?) to each other.
Maybe sketch out a couple of hypotheses and remark on their plausibility. (?)
An alternative short response approach might involve identifying and discussing one or more of Agamben’s key terms or concepts (including some traditional terms somewhat repurposed) that Agamben is making use of. I think there are some variety of potential choices but a fairly overt example that jumps out to me is the bit about ‘revocation of every vocation’ (which perhaps sheds some unusual light on both ‘revocation’ and ‘vocation’).
