Interpersonal Communication Theory Paper and Presentation For this assignment, you will be exploring and illustrating one of the communication theories that you have read about in your textbook. Please choose the theory from the list below. Some of the theories are related to psychology, so be sure in your exploration that you are looking at how the theory is related to interpersonal communication. Part I. Write a 4-5 page paper that contains the following: 1. Definition of the theory: Tell what it is all about, the researcher(s) who developed it, and when it was developed. (1-2 paragraphs) 2. Scholarly research study article summaries: Find two scholarly articles that test the theory. The articles must be from the EBSCO Host database collection available through the CSM library. You may access it on or off campus. For off-campus access, you will need to use your student ID number. Here is a link to the library services page: http://www.csmd.edu/student-services/library-services/index.html Once you are in EBSCO on the “Choose Databases” page, click on the boxes next to Academic Search Premier and Communication and Mass Media Complete. These will give you the best selection of articles related to interpersonal communication. Articles must be from an academic journal. Be sure that when you obtain the article that it is the full text and not just the abstract, and attach a PDF copy of the article to your assignment submission. The summary should give background on the study, tell the research question(s), give an overview of the results, and explain the conclusions the authors developed. (3-4 paragraphs for each summary) If you need help using the EBSCO Host database, visit a CSM campus near you and ask the reference librarian to guide you through the steps. 3. Explanation of a real-life example of the theory in action: Use either a personal example or an example from other relationships you have observed. Give details about the relationship and tell how the theory is illustrated. (1-2 paragraphs) 4. Popular culture example or a self-created example of the theory: Find or create an example that illustrates the theory. Be creative here. Use a 3-5 minute clip from a TV show or movie available online, write a dialogue, or record a video of a scene that you create with your friends. Be sure to include a link to the video or upload your selfcreated video. Write an explanation of the example showing how it illustrates the theory. Please note, the video should not be about the theory specifically; it should be an example that illustrates the theory. (1-2 paragraphs) Upload your paper with its attachments on the Assignments page by the due date. Part II. Create a PowerPoint or Prezi slide show that you will share with the class that contains the following: 1. The definition of the theory from your paper. 2.
