Art of Japan essay

– You must cite at least one scholarly source per answer. You may reference the required readings (PDF ARTICLES) for our course or consult outside sources. — Each answer must be 300-500 words and must be organized as an argumentative essay. 
–  using at least one work of art and artist as an example. 
-Your thesis statement should be right at the front of the response, and it tells the reader exactly what you’re going to argue. A thesis statement is not a black and white fact, because you do not argue facts. You argue viewpoints. If you introduce another branch to your argument halfway through or at the end, and you didn’t include it in your thesis, you’re muddling up your thesis argument.
1)  Including a clear, argumentative thesis.
2)  keeping a linear, clear argument throughout.
3)  answering all parts of the question.

– ALL SOURCES CITED MUST BE SCHOLARLY, SECONDARY OR PRIMARY SOURCES. Do not cite from museum websites, casual websites, or unverified internet sources.  
– All sources must be cited in Chicago Manual of Style format. (see Purdue Online Writing Lab or Son of Citation).
– NO DIRECT QUOTATIONS.
