as the artist

You get to write as the artist of a work of art. You get to decide what you want to make, and for whom (aka who your patron is). In order to do this properly, you’ll need to:

– Know the time period “you” (your artist) lived in. It can be any time period, it is not exclusive to Baroque art!

-Explain how you would make the object in art historical detail. For example, how are you making the work? Is it an oil painting? A sculpture? Do some research on HOW certain objects are made.

-Explain about yourself (short biography), and who you are making the object for. Who is your patron? What have they commissioned from you, and why?

– CITE ALL OF YOUR SOURCES. This includes a bibliography at the end of your paper.
-THIS IS NOT A RESEARCH PAPER. You are writing as the artist, so this paper should be written similarly to a first person biography, such as a letter or a diary. 
If you have not done the above, you WILL NOT receive full points.
Also you all need to remember to keep a professional tone in ALL of your writing. I know our class lectures have a really great and more conversational tone, but I need to see professionalism in your papers. In research papers, this includes not including personal opinion or any personal pronouns (ex: “I think this painting is really awesome”), and using non-academic language in general. Also you CANNOT USE EXCESSIVE INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE. Please DO NOT include language that you would use not in polite conversation. These concerns primarily apply for the English Baroque assignment (WHICH ALSO NEEDS SOURCES INCLUDED IF YOU DO NOT USE ORIGINAL IDEAS), but also is true of the ATA paper.
