The major project in this class is to research local(HOUSTON TEXAS) counseling services for addictions of all kinds.  Create a reference listing of local services for addictions to whom a school counselor can refer a child, teen, or family to help with addictions.  The collection of information will be for your benefit and possibly one you can share with other school counselors.  There should be no less than 20 listings that include agencies, hospitals, mental health counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrist are to be researched.  Although the listing is to be local, you may consider farther reaching services.  However, remember that your purpose in the reference list is to help you as a school counselor to help the children you will serve and their families.  Listing the Betty Ford Institute in California when you live in Georgia is not a reasonable listing.  Keep in mind your areas’ socio-economic status as well.

You may be creative and list the selections as you choose; however, the list should be easy to read and serve as an easy reference.  The information can be in Excel form, Access, MSWord, digital, etc.; however, you must attach the listing to Blackboard in Week 7 to receive credit. Do not copy and paste from local advertisements. You are expected to conduct research by calling each service and listing the information required on the attachment.  You may list more information than required, but not less than required.  In Week 7 you can earn up to 100 points for this assignment.  I recommend starting now.  See attachment for example
