Brief description: The objective is to assess your capacity to:Research and present on a relevant topic; and o Assess your knowledge of forensic accounting issues. Concept of this assessment item This assessment item asks you to imagine that you work in a forensic accounting firm and that you are submitting an investigation briefing paper for a potential client. Investigation briefing paper The investigation briefing paper could include the following topics: o Background: A background of your understanding of the alleged misconduct. o Critical investigation tasks: Investigation tasks which you recommend should be undertaken in order to investigate the matter and an explanation as to why these tasks are critical. o Key challenges: At least three (3) anticipated challenges which you expect will arise during your investigation and your strategies to overcome these challenges. o Resources: A description of what kinds of skill-sets, in addition to forensic accounting, you will need to complete the investigation (for example, data scientists, computer forensic specialists, and/or interpreters). o Other legal/forensic accounting considerations: A brief discussion of at least two (2) legal/accounting issues that are relevant to the investigation (for example, considerations around restraining funds from leaving the jurisdiction and/or the need for international cooperation).
