For this week’s post, please identify and explore the web page of an organization that is ‘working on’ the issue or connected to the community you are researching. Some topics/issues will lead directly to an obvious organization, while others will be a bit tricky. You may have to consider an aspect of or perhaps potential main point (cause, effect, solution) within your topic/issue. It may also be helpful to ‘broaden out’ and find org. that connects to a community if you are focused on one (ex: I might not find an organization that specifically is focused on ‘Technology in Education’, but I will certainly find org’s that support teachers/educators). Once you have found an organization, explore their web page and consider how their website and the resources provided may be useful to your research. Here are some items to share:
-Provide the link.
-Give an overview of their history/purpose/mission.
-Describe what they do; perhaps share about a specific program/service they provide.
-Consider how you might use the website within your essay/research – Do their programs offer viable solutions? Is there information that gets into specific causes/effects that could be useful support? Is there a ‘testimonial’ that might make for an engaging opening to the topic/issue? Are their other resources (articles, studies, charts/graphs, videos) that could be useful?
Please post your original response by class time on Monday. Respond to 2 of your peers’ posts by doing one of the following:
a). Consider the ‘topic/issue’ your peer has and help them identify a second organization that may be related to their research. Share the link and why you feel it may be a good source for them.
OR
b). Go to the site they have shared about and identify an interesting ‘aspect’ of the site they did not mention in their original response. For example -> perhaps its a video from the site, a report/article that the site links out to, or a program that the org offers that would be a good solution idea.
