As online learning and training gain wider distribution and acceptance, the interaction between learner and LMS becomes one of the key factors in whether or not learning is accomplished or continued. Reflecting on your own experiences with an LMS:

• Determine the key factors that you feel are the most important in creating a welcoming environment and the key factors that become obstacles to a positive online experience and learning. Explain why you think those factors are important.
• Suggest at least two (2) actions that you would take in order to improve the major positives and make changes to the major negatives. Include at least two (2) examples of such improvements and / or changes to support your response.

When creating a welcoming environment online appearance, organization, and add-ons are all key factors. All people are attracted to color and color makes items pop for example the white words and the bright red color pops and allows me to be inspired as soon as I log onto Blackboard, I know it’s game time. Allowing users to change the color and personalize their portal allows users to become more comfortable with using the system. Words must be bold and legible to users. Another key factor is an organization the platform must be organized so the user is able to easily navigate the LMS. Finally, add-ons such as strayer blackboard having the library add-on placed on the platform allow users to use resources that will aid in enhancing students learning experience.

The first action to improve major positives is to ensure that students tutorial is successful. Many say they understand something just to use the system when in fact they have not really listened to properly use the system. I would suggest the teacher gives students additional tutorial to ensure students understand how to access classroom announcements, grades, course material etc. Finally, a major positive the platform is easy to access on all technology. Choosing an LMS that has applications that can be downloaded on tablets, phones, and laptops. The user can take the platform any and everywhere with them are more likely to be successful in mastering each learning objective.
