“Loyalty programs also called frequency marketing, programs that encourage repeat purchasing through a formal program enrollment process and the distribution of benefits” (Winner & Dhar, 2011, p. 428). Loyalty programs are a marketing strategy to attract customers easily. Kohl’s is a great example to use when it comes to loyalty programs, the rewards are very simple, you always get a $10 cashback when you spend $50 and you also get coupons at home or online with different discounts. I feel if the program you provide is simple and easy to understand it will attract more customers easily. There are many reward programs with different benefits; Amazon offers 2 days shipping if you are a prime member and Harbor freight Tools usually gives you a free item when you purchase something at the store. Other programs you must accumulate points based on the amount you spend in order to get a reward. “Today’s most successful customer-loyalty programs are engaging and retaining customers by building an emotional connection to the brand and making participation in the program effortless” (Feiereisen, 2019, para. 3). The most attractive reward programs are at no cost to customers if a customer receives discounts and exclusive deals without spending a penny must likely that customer will come back.
“According to The Loyalty Report 2017, the average consumer is involved in 14 loyalty programs, but have the capacity to engage with only seven. Companies lose money on time and effort, and customers get no more value from the businesses to which they are loyal” (Bernazzani, 2018, para. 8). In my experience, I have over 20 reward cards from different stores, gas stations, etc., and there are businesses that really emphasizes the benefits they provide for being a reward member. Businesses such as Victoria Secret and Bath and Body Works; they go above and beyond to send you a $10 discount on your birthday and many other discounts just because they feel you will use it. Victoria Secret offers free pantie rewards almost every month just to bring you in the store. Loyalty programs that are different and give customers deals that are hard to find are more appealing to consumers. Companies should focus on being unique, simple and customization to fit customer’s needs.
