I admit in totality that Policy and Politics in Nursing and Health care aids in influencing policy, especially in the modern healthcare environment. The reading provides a comprehensive understanding of nursing as well as how they are supposed to survive in various spheres in modern society. I, therefore, support the idea to have a comprehensive coverage of healthcare on the basis of policies and politics. On the other hand, the reading provides an insight together with strategies that nurses should be prepared to play leadership roles. These include in such sectors as political sphere, workplace, government, professional organizations and lastly in the community. Therefore the reading enlightens on nursing leadership in relation to political activism in the modern complex entrepreneurial society and financial issues. The readings also raise the question of how nurses have participated in politics and what they have been able to accomplish. I, therefore, feel that the reading has addressed basic concepts of nursing and politics. Furthermore, the reading is easy and fun to understand and read. In this case, the reading provides very significant concepts to anyone looking to change policy, especially in today’s political atmosphere. (Mason, Leavitt, & Chaffee, 2013).
