Public Relations and marketing go hand in hand to me. One fits with the other to make sure that the company is staying ahead of its competitors and its persuading the consumers to at least take a look at their product. Every business is built off reputation and when it comes to Public relations and marketing, what better way to make your business stand out. We all know that customers are the driving force of any business. The main priortiy is to build relationship with customers especially your present ones but it also helps with future customers as well. We all know that word of mouth is huge when it comes success of a business. Customers tend to let everyone know about businesses that they are very happy with and generally this brings other customers aboard. Having word of mouth, marketing, and Public Relations in a positive effect will only make businesses grow more successful than ever before. Public Relations is part of every business success because they get the customers to see the positive side of the company and hopefully answer all questions that customers may have pertainng to the company. When a company is preparing to launch a new product for example, a press release can help build buzz about the product (Ogden & Ogden, 2014). There are a lot of companies who are great at Public Relations but Nike is one of the more successful businesses beacause of great advertsing and Public Relations. Every time Nike releass a new shoe, the advertisement usually causes a comotion amongst customers. The advertisement have caused customers to stand outside of stores for 24-48 hours in order to purchase their new shoes that are coming out on the market.
With every positive comes a negative the majority of the time and this is no different when Public relations is involved. Every company goes through problems and when customers have negative feedback about their business, Public relations must act to answer all the negative questions to re-build the positive relatoinship they once had priot to the negative experience. I used the example of United Airlines where a passenger who paid for his seat was ask to deplane so that soomeone else could take his seat. When the passenger refused, United Airline called airport security to the flight and the passenger was forcibly removed. The passenger was badly hurt doing the incident and it was recorded by anotheor passenger. United Airline CEO isued a public apology and promised to do better in the future to regain the trust of the airline customers. The one thing that separates advertsing from public relations is there is no negative advertising when it comes to business. Media can generate negative PR for a company and this can create problems for the company or organization depending on the bias of the media (Ogden & Ogden, 2014).

The role of public relations within an organization’s integrated marketing communications is to make major headlines prior to a company advertising a new service or product. When a company has a press conference regarding their services or goods, it increases the credibility because the public is being informed about it before the actual release which means they are less likely to be doubt it. During a commercial, a company does not have enough to emphasize over all the details of a product or service and how it came about, because it would take to long. A press conference is then setup to explain all the details and answer any questions or concerns the public may have. All news stations will then discuss the press conference by highlighting all the strong points and by the time the promotions and advertisements run, the public is ready to dive in with no hesitation.
Every time apple releases a new phone they involve public relations which creates a huge media buzz in comparison to super bowl Sunday. The one thing I like about public relations is that it can be used when a company is in the midst of losing customers due to a horrific event that has happened within the company. “Often one of the most visible areas where public relation tools are used is with crisis management. Negative publicity must be handled quickly, or it can ruin reputations” (Ogden & Ogden, 2014, p. 7.1). The success of a public relations campaign can be measured in todays technology world through the use of social media likes and through the sales.
