in order to have an effective HR department an organization must have an the willingness to change based on research and development compiled by the HR department. The HR department needs to be a well rounded part of the organization that can skillfully identify issues within an organization as well as those outside of it that can potentially affect the companies future. Being competitive is the name of the game to have a good HR department, “an increasing amount of research suggests that the way organizations implement and modify their HRM activities can provide competitive advantages ” (chapter 2 Human resource management). An effective HR department needs to be well though out for its recruitment and training of diverse individuals and always look to ensure the supervisors and managers are trained in basic forms or HR compliance standards.
