Essay #2 is a Reader Response and Analysis paper to assigned readings. In this essay, in addition to developing a controlling idea with a clear thesis, you will focus on summary, analysis, and evaluation of sources. You will be responding to textual readings and incorporating citations. You will also continue to demonstrate the ability to apply appropriate MLA standards to the paper. As you complete the paper, you will have successfully incorporated the arguments of other writers with your own response, without plagiarizing.

You may include an additional essay or academic source providing factual information to support your thesis, but the focus of this paper is not outside research. You are being asked to read and analyze assigned readings.
You must use at least one of the two (2) sources in your paper.
Your opinion can be mixed: you do not have to say junk food or processed food is all good or all bad. You may choose to write about personal choice of diet or about how some people have limitations in choice because of where they live or their income level as discussed in the readings.
You can be more expansive than the readings and discuss nutrition, but you will need to make sure you’re writing a focused analysis of the issues raised in the articles by using well-chosen quotes and citations. As you include your own ideas, this type of paper asks that you keep in mind those who would argue against your position using counterexamples.
