Recall the things you have learned from the first three units.
Edit your pretest based on what you have learned.
Summarize your thoughts on how you have improved your writing since the pretest.

Perform the following analysis by answering the questions.

Locate the introductory paragraph. Is there a valid thesis statement? Does the thesis statement have three-parts (subject/ verb-predicate/ expository clause)? What can you do to improve the thesis?
In the introductory paragraph, are there at least three distinguishable advanced organizers? If so, what are they? Are they complete sentences? If no, what should the three advanced organizers be based on the thesis statement.
In the introductory paragraph, are there any introductory sentences or other relevant observations that develop the introductory paragraph? If yes, what are they? If no, what could you add?
Locate the body paragraphs. Are there at least three body paragraphs that consist of 8 or more sentences per paragraph?
If any body paragraphs need development, what could you add to develop the paragarphs?
Do the paragraphs refer back to the advanced organizers in the order in which you presented the advanced organizers in the introductory paragraph?
How might you improve consistency in the essay so that the advanced organizers relate better to the body paragraphs?
Locate the conclusion. Does the conclusion seem to convey one or more of the four conclusion types we’ve studied?
How can you improve the conclusion to reflect one or more of the four types of conclusion?
Are your thesis statement and advanced organizers “recycled”? How can you recycle these ideas better?
Review the 20 common errors. Are there ANY of the 20 common errors found in your essay? If so, correct them.
