Growth Machine Assignment

In their book Urban Fortunes Logan and Molotch critically examine similar development goals and argue that those who benefit from development often construct pro-growth narratives to gain public support for projects that mainly benefit private interests.
After reading from Urban Fortunes and understanding Logan and Molotch’s argument regarding the Growth Machine, search the web or print media for an example of pro-growth rhetoric used by the City of Denver. This might be in quotes or statements made by city officials in the media (The Denver Post, Westword, 5280 and other local media), statements on the City of Denver webpage, or public speeches by city council members. Submit the article or printout of the pro-growth narrative you chose along with a 1-page summary. Discuss how the narratives, plans, language, or priorities of those cited in the article, on the website, or in the speech embody what Logan and Molotch call the Growth Machine.
This assignment is organized as a Discussion Board, but it is not a regular discussion board assignment. It is key assignment for the course that makes up 10% of your grade.
Assignment specifics:   Upload your article as a PDF or copy a link to the article or webpage in the Discussion Board. Then include a written explanation of how the news article, city project, statement by city officials, or other example of your choosing exemplifies the Growth Machine and why.  Your written discussion should be 2-3 paragraphs, no more than 300 words, single spaced.  I suggest you create and proofread your assignment in a separate document before copying your discussion to the Discussion Board.
