Healthcare Marketing involves with formal and informal promotional and productive activities that extend their organization’s brand, their physicians and services provided. Organizations may provide specialized seminars, workshops, and public health educational programs to support community and events. As hospital organizations market their organizations as “good corporate citizens,” physicians market themselves through networking within their communities, personal activities, referring physicians and volunteer work (Thomas, 2015).
According to the CDC, health marketing is a multidisciplinary practice that involves creating, communicating, delivering and promoting health informational and intervention. Research in health care and marketing improves and promotes public health and interventional guidance in diverse populations.

Healthcare marketing is a method of advertising that supports medical practice/service branding and outreach to consumers. It permits exposure for physicians, medical practices, and hospitals to existing patients and new or potential patients. It also provides education to its audience. It involves creating, communicating, and delivering health information and interventions using customer-centered and science-based strategies to protect and promote the health of diverse populations (CDC, 2005).
By marketing, the practice can communicate with its existing patient(s) by building trust and sparking interest with potential patients as well. It allows the practice to increase its patient connections and nurture relationships to form long-term, loyal patients. Successful marketing leads to successful patient engagement and business expansion.
Lastly, providers can improve patient quality of care by using healthcare marketing techniques and tools such as websites, social media, patient engagement surveys to highlight specialized treatment(s) offered, treatment options, and support patient quality of care.
