History

Discuss what you have learned on the themes of power, resistance, and equality in the early American experience. You should write a short-essay submission that addresses the following questions:
1) Are those in power bound to abuse it? 2) Do the “weak” have to tolerate the power of the “strong?” 3) Could inequalities in the early American experience have been eliminated? Should they have been?
Your response should be a minimum of 250 words. It should reflect your status as a student of history and include specific information about what you’ve learned this semester. General responses that are not rooted in history will be penalized. Your submission should NOT discuss racism/slavery. This is such an obvious abuse of power. When discussing resistance and inequality, thoughtful explanations are required.
You may NOT include any textbook quotations or internet material! If any part of your response is unoriginal, you will receive a zero. I’m also not interested in present-day analogies. This is a history course, so please keep your ideas focused on the time period covered.
To fully participate in this assignment, you must also respond to at least one classmate’s post. You must say more than “I agree with…” followed by a restatement of that person’s ideas. Your response to a classmate should be at least 100 words. No attachments.
Upload your initial post no later than Thursday, November 28, at 8:00PM Central. This will leave time for classmates to read and respond to your ideas.
You must respond to at least one classmate’s post by Saturday, November 30, at 8:00PM Central.
Sunday is an open discussion day. However, you should not post a question to anyone on Sunday. That person may have had time to log in and review your question on the last day of this assignment. However, if someone asks you a question prior to Sunday and you fail to respond, then you will be penalized.
