1- discussion :

  

What does it mean for a language to die? What does it mean for a language to be endangered? What is happening in a community or place when a language there starts to die? In other words, what are the social conditions that bring about or surround language death and endangerment? What are some revitalization strategies? 

 
Expectations for your individual post:

Consists of 2-3 substantial, thoughtful, and well-organized paragraphs directly addressing the prompt
Incorporate ideas from at least 3 of the readings listed on the syllabus under readings for discussion board of that week
Ideas, paraphrasing, and quotation must be cited completely and properly according to APA style (otherwise it is plagiarism)

o  Directions for citing in APA style can be found on Canvas under Academic Resources
o  Must use in text citations in your paragraphs when referencing readings
o  Must include reference section at the end with full citations of all readings used in post

Do not incorporate personal beliefs, experiences, or opinions
This is meant to be a more academically rigorous discussion based on textual analysis of scholarly readings
Personal experiences and opinions will be shared through the blog assignments and personal reflection essay

2- blog:

 What does it mean for a language to die? What do you think language death, endangerment, and revitalization means for the global community on Earth? What do you think language death, endangerment, and revitalization means for local communities? We may not all have experience with language death, endangerment, or revitalization, but most of us have experience with language change or the loss of a word or two. Talk a bit about any experiences you have with language change or loss. 

 
Expectations for your individual blog assignments:

Include at least 1 image that is properly cited in APA style
Consists of 4-5 substantial, thoughtful, and well-organized paragraphs directly addressing the blog assignment instructions for that week
Incorporate ideas from the material listed on the syllabus under materials for blog assignment that week
Incorporate ideas from at least 1 of the readings listed on the syllabus under readings for discussion board of that week
Incorporate ideas from at least 1 internet resource that is not already used in the course (it must be properly cited and include weblink for classmates and professor to access)
The goal is to use academic and scholarly work to explore personal opinions, experiences, and ideas
