Task: Please write a 60-minute lesson plan for teaching English to speakers of a different language that uses the style of one of the 5 example plans found in the previous sections of this module. Do not copy the target language, or theme of these lesson plans, but show that you have your own understanding of the course content and can teach a specific target language point. To give this lesson context and make it engaging and effective, your objective should revolve around a theme/topic that highlights this target language. For example, your target language point may be “the present perfect tense” and your learning objective may be “talk about a recent holiday”. Trying to use any other program to edit this pdf template will not allow it to save properly. Neither template is mandatory (you can create your own plan from scratch), but your lesson must contain the necessary information for you to teach your target language point, the materials your students need to practice it, and the plan must meet the grading criteria below. If you would like to use programs like Apple Pages, please export the file as a PDF or a Word document from your program before submitting it. There are six parts to a lesson plan, and each one needs to be written with enough detail for your trainer to understand and assess. Lesson Plan Assessment: In the following checklist are 25 criteria points. Each one has possible scores of 0 (zero), 1 (one), or 2 (two), depending on how well each point is met. You will receive a score of 2 if the criterion has been met. A score of 1 will be awarded for a clear attempt to fulfill the criterion. And 0 will be awarded if the criterion has been ignored. A score out of 50 (fifty) will then be used to calculate your grade. Trainer Assessment Criteria: 1. Is the lesson plan presented in a professional manner? 2. Does the lesson plan follow a professional standard of formatting? 3. Does the lesson plan itself follow conventions of English (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.)? 4. Is the length of the lesson plan appropriate for its estimated time length (60mins)? 5. Does the lesson plan feature all of the necessary sections to make it a successful lesson? 6. Is the language focus of the lesson clear? 7. Is the lesson graded for the appropriate level of students? 8. Are lesson goals realistic? 9. Are lesson goals relevant? 10. Does the lesson plan focus on a particular grammar point? 11. Is the grammar information correct? 12. Does the lesson feature an engaging warm-up activity? 15. Is the grammar presented in such a way that students can easily understand it? 14. Does the presentation stage feature a sufficient amount of student talk time over teacher talk time? 15. Are lesson stages set up in a logical way (warm-up, presentation, focused practice, free practice)? 16. Does the focused practice provide students with a clear learning objective? 17. Does the freer practice provide opportunities for students to expand what they have already learned? 18. Do other activities support the learning material? 19. Would the lesson engage students? 20. Does the lesson promote learner autonomy? 21. Has the teacher considered possible problems and disruptions? 22. Are time limits realistic? 23. Could the lesson be modified for similar learning targets/levels? 24. Would required teaching materials be readily available? 25. Has the teacher considered how the lesson would be followed up in the future? I have attached some examples and a template for you.
