Literature Review Resources

Successful completion of a doctoral dissertation requires significant amounts of independent reading on the research topic. This allows the doctoral learner/researcher to become familiar with the scope of the topic and to identify gaps or tensions within the existing literature on the topic. These gaps and tensions become the source of the dissertation research. In this assignment, you will read and annotate potential sources in your dissertation field of interest. Those demonstrating the most merit to the best of your understanding of the topic at this time should be added to your RefWorks list for potential inclusion in the literature review section of your dissertation.

Directions:
Read at least 10 empirical articles in your general dissertation field that you have not read previously.

I intend to complete my doctoral dissertation on the following:
My interest thus far is focused on performing a general research on human behaviors such as motivational factors, what makes people behave in certain ways and the consequences of such behaviors. At the present moment, the situation in the country as it relates to immigrants, which I am one, calls for greater attention; including arrests and deportations, banning of certain individuals from some countries, building walls and most recently, the protest and solidarity demonstration in some cities by immigrants that make the workforce of our country. This has prompted me to show interest in researching and conducting behavioral analysis of some immigrants in this country, as well as their contribution to the development of our country.
My passion for a research of this magnitude will help me to broaden my knowledge on diversity and my overall educational needs, as well as open my intellectual door world-wide, with recognition for integrative educational researches; moreover, it will help in broadening my views and opinions well beyond the usual and help to impact my contribution as a team member wherever I find myself in the near future. Although, I know that somehow it will be challenging but I expect it to be progressive and rewarding, and it is because of this that I aspire to positions of greater responsibility everywhere I find myself.
