  PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS VERY VERY CAREFULLY 
It can be said that the best way to learn about management is from a manager.  For THIS paper:
Interview a manager of your choice within any industry and discuss with him/her the management functions you have learned about in this class. Your paper should not be just a list of questions and answers, but your analysis of how the questions you asked, and the responses you received, relate to management functions.
· Length: minimum of 3 pages double-spaced (introduction/body/close is the expected format).
· Guidelines:  Spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc. errors will negatively affect your grade.
·  Possible Questions: (These are just a few suggestions; you do not need to use any of them – there are hundreds of questions you could ask about managing!)
o How did you become a manager in this organization?
o What do you consider your most important daily task? 
o Long-term, what is your most important task?
o Are you involved in the strategic management process?  How?
o How do you make decisions?
o How do you develop employees?
o How do you motivate employees?
o Do you consider yourself a leader?  Why?
o What skills do you most use as a manager?
o What is the most difficult challenge you face as a manager?
o What is the role of control in your position as manager?
o How do you view teams in your organization?
o What role does power play in your position within the organization?
o What is the culture of your company?
Please remember, I absolutely do not want a list of questions and answers for this paper.  It needs to be much more than that.  Analyze how the responses you received relate to the management functions you have learned from our readings.  Tell me what you learned about management from your interview.
