When I attended school the classroom/learning approaches that were implemented was style C. I did like this learning style I felt as if it gave me a great amount of structure on the daily. I was able to make my own choices as well as if what I wanted to do. I feel like learning style C is the perfect balance for kids. I would like like to implement scenario C in my classroom the most. I feel like the children having structure but are also allowed to move to the center that interest they the most provides the best learning style do to the children don’t feel like they are being forced to learn certain things. I also feel like children need structure so knowing what to expect the next day is a huge thing once children don’t know what to expect it creates a certain level of chaos so having a structured day is great for children and the ability to learn. The last reason why I would want to implement scenario C in my classroom has a room that is warm and inviting. A clean room and a room that is set up age-friendly making a child feel safe and not overwhelmed is also a big step to getting the child to be open to learning new things and have that want to come every day and learn. My ideal classroom would be taught based on The Bandura: Social Learning Theory.

When I attended school, I remember classrooms being like example D from A Tale of Five Classrooms, which is direct instruction. I didn’t like this style classroom because I feel like it was hard for me to really strive. I would sit there all day listening to lectures, but I would also be nervous because I knew that the teacher would start asking questions to make sure we were paying attention. I was a shy student and didn’t raise my hand to answer questions. I remember the desks being in rows and the kidney table for group work.

I love classroom C, which is a high scope classroom. It still gives structure, but allows the students to extend their thinking. In my future classroom, I would put the schedule up in the room so the students always know what’s coming next. According to the one program model, a set routine is an important component of a classroom because it gives the students consistency (Dunlap 2014). Another aspect that is important is the children will be able to move independently from one area to another and that strengthens their decision-making skills. Lastly, I would ensure that I make my classroom warm and welcoming. In my opinion, students need to feel safe and welcome in order to reach their full potential. This classroom approach will make the students feel welcomed, safe and give them the consistency that they need in order to be successful.
