Prescreening Data
As multivariate analyses require the aid of computer software, this course also includes training in the use of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for the statistical analyses. Before analyses can be performed, the definition of variables and the raw data must be set up in an SPSS file. This assignment will guide you through the process of actually setting up an SPSS data file, which can then be used for later analyses.
To prepare data for SPSS analyses, complete the following tasks:

Open Microsoft Excel spreadsheet database. Use Database A for assignments.xls as the raw data source. To read a brief description of database, refer to the document The Database File.
Install and open SPSS.
Create a new SPSS data file.

In the Variable View, enter each of the variables (except Case #) from the Excel database and fill in the information needed across the row to set up and define each variable.
In Data View, cut and paste data from the Excel spreadsheet into the SPSS data set. (Change the gender to a numerical code.)

Write up the results of your prescreening of the data:

Describe the results of screening for missing data on each of the variables.
Report the descriptive statistics for each of the continuous variables in the set.
Report separately the results of your evaluations for outliers and normality for each of the continous variables.
Report results of your evaluations of linearity and homoscedasticity for relationships between all pairs of continous variables.

In providing your response, follow the number and letter format in Microsoft Word. Name your SPSS file R7034_M2_A1_LastName_FirstInitial.sav and submit it to the Discussion Area by the due date assigned.
