Student will work independently on a juvenile facility project. Student can use a PowerPoint or Word document to 1) discuss what they believe would be the best juvenile facility to treat juvenile offenders (any offense that could send them to jail or prison). The purpose of this project is to think outside of the box and replace jail/prison with a possibly better facility that will focus on treatment rather than punishment. Students can draw the design (encouraged) of the facility or just write a short paper (2 pages or so). The description (and the design/drawing) should be very detailed and explain the reasoning behind each decision/design. If a student wants to use a PowerPoint instead of a Word document, there is a minimum of 10 slides. Please be aware of juveniles’ needs and potential treatment. Students can also “assign a crime” to their juvenile and design the facility according to that specific crime.
