Recital Essay NO LESS THAN 350 words

 
 You should have 4 bullet points as listed below. 
Here is how the essay needs to be structured:

FIRST— Describe what the musical style of the band you have seen performed. Give a little history on that particular style.

Take a pad of paper to the recital/gig to take notes on.
Talk about what group/s played.
What style of music was it? Was it a type of music you typically listen to or was it a new experience for you? If it was new for you write what you thought about it.

SECOND—- Make sure when you describe the music that you use the musical terminology that was discussed in the first module.
Were these songs you know or were they new to you?
What instruments were used? Have you seen them before and are they being used in a way you haven’t seen before?
Use musical terminology in your essay. (i.e. melody, harmony, rhythm, etc…)

THIRD —-Discuss how the group that you saw worked together as a team. (Think about the band being a team, such as the Spurs or the Cowboys, etc. If you can talk about how those teams work together as a unit then regard the band in the same manner.)

FOURTH— What is the social/cultural context of the particular style of music you saw? ( i.e. country music represents the urban dweller and their ideals, jazz was a dance form that got people out of their houses when the country was in economic despair and during WW II, etc) All of these things are discussed with each style of music that is covered in the course. You can find this information in your textbook.

 
Styles that should not be written about:
DJ music, EDM, Tejano. These styles are not covered in the course.
