Research paper

Topic of the paper is Asian American college students face a lot of mental health issues compared to others, and often times they do not seek help.  Base on my research, Asian American college students…for this reason…

Assignment:
Analyze an experience, emerging idea, product, event, trend, movement, or activity using 2 primary sources and 5 secondary sources (see attached bibliography).  The goal of the paper is to examine multiple primary and secondary sources in order to develop an argument about the methods, goals, accomplishments, purposes, modes, and/or content of the subject

Introduce topic by giving a broad overview of its issues, history, themes, problems, importance or the questions that are driving your research.
Introduce primary sources by giving a brief explanation of the insights they give into your topic.
Advance a thesis statement that either explains that main insights you’ve gained through your research, or provides an answer to some or all of your main research questions, or suggests a solution to a major problem associated with your topic, or outlines how your two primary sources are working with/against each other.

Finished draft must be between 2200-2400 word (7-8 pages double spaced, 1 inch margins) using 12pt Times New Roman

Look at the accompanying rubric to get an idea of the qualities of a well constructed essay, but as a general rule, here are some of the highlights of what I’ll be paying attention to:
-Introduction that provides context for your subject and an arguable, focused, and revelatory thesis statement that will guide your paper
-An interesting analysis of how your primary texts work with/against each other to perform cultural work that relates to your subject
-Solid claims that are backed up with key details and effective incorporation of the texts as support
-sparing and effective use of paraphrase and quotes
-effective use and citation of 2 primary sources and 5 secondary sources
-logical organization and transitions
-a conclusion that ties the ideas together, examines the implications of your research
-use of your own words.
