It is important that the educator introduces the classroom rules to the students on the first day of school. Rules consist of a discipline plan or policy for the students to become familiar with. The educator needs to discuss with the students what the rules are, the consequences of the rules, and how to follow the rules in the classroom. Presenting and going over the rules is a way for students to become aware of the do’s and don’t’s in the classroom. The educator should display the rules up inside of the classroom as will as a a written piece of paper for the students and their parents to see. Rules allow the students to become aware of what the classroom expectations are. Examples:

  • Be respectful to others
  • Be prepared to work
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself
