Summary
The Lead MSA provides routinely interacts with MSA staff and collaborates with other members of an expanded health care team to assist in providing a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. The Lead MSA monitors and makes work daily work assignments and necessary balances workload among MSA staff. the Lead MSA provides input on performance regarding quality of work, accurate and timely scheduling of appointments and compliance with medical center 

Coordinates the daily work schedules of the medical support assistants in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy which include but not limited to assigning modalities.
Review daily logs completed by the MSA staff to ensure to make sure all orders and appointments have been scheduled correctly, orders have been printed for providers review and all wristbands are printed and added to the correct Veterans order and screening form.
Incumbent will adjust assignments based on the workloads of the units by conducting frequent rounds on the units and personally assisting in heaviest workload areas.
The incumbent must be aware of the availability of radiologist and technologist staffing levels, and other clinical staff who use radiology exam rooms and radiologic suites, and equipment availability and will direct patients accordingly.
Reviews the work of new medical support assistants closely for errors, making corrections and re-instructing as necessary. Spot checks the work of other medical support assistants to assure that the work is performed accurately, efficiently and according to the standard operating procedures.
Responsible for real time monitor the call center to ensure phones are answered promptly and when appropriate make staffing adjustments.
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that Imaging exams are uploaded into the Picture Archiving Computer System (PACS)/NM Workstations in accordance with record control polices.
Assists all Imaging medical support assistants with daily practice problem and questions regarding the National Radiology Scheduling Directives.
Provides orientation to medical support assistants with detailed job instructions regarding medical support procedures, monitoring all Medical Support Assistants on new practices and procedures.
The incumbent must be able to retain significant quantities of information relating to the scheduling of all imaging procedures and scheduling processes by over serving scheduling business rules and National Radiology Program scheduling procedures.
Serves as a back-up timekeeper as assigned by Business Manager or designee.
The Lead Medical Support Assistant receives instructions regarding daily activities from the Supervisory MSA or designee. Most assignments are performed independently according to established procedures and/or previous experience. The incumbent will have oversight over the Imaging MSA’s.
This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments. The incumbent must be poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds. Willing to work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. Makes caring for the Veteran his/her priority while in the work setting and conducts themselves in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner at all times.
Completes other duties as assigned.
