For this Week 3 and Week 4discussion you will need to read from our Greene and Lidinsky text onSynthesis,pages 152-3 and 165-170. Note the Synthesis Worksheet on page 167.
We will break into Groups so that no one has to read and analyze all three essays.The different Group members are listed at the end of these instructions.
There are 3 essays in the text, pages171-180, that we want to consider for synthesis. To do this, each person will read the essay assigned to their Group, and then respond to both Question 1 and Question 2.
Group 2 reads the essay by Dickerson.
Question 1 (post your response by 4/9/14):
a. Who is your author (Kennedy, Dickerson or Grove)?
b. In a couple of sentences, explain the “gist” of the author’s argument.
c. Give at least one example of evidence or a key point that the author uses that supports his thesis.
d. Do you see any counterarguments? If so, what?
e. How do you respond to this author’s argument (agree, opposed, convinced, not convinced, etc.) and why?
