After reading the article Is Social Media a Time-Waster for Nonprofits? There is a lot of information in this article I did not know. I thought most of the nonprofits that are utilizing Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or other social media sights their pages were free to promote the organization or other information they want to relay to the community. The article mentioned using the Google sight would benefit a nonprofit organization more than the other social media sights. The nonprofit organization that I work with right now uses Facebook and Twitter everyday, to either put jobs postings, weekly pictures of employs, webinars, trainings, and other types of things that the organization has done either with the clients or workers related to a get together. I do not think that increasing friend raising is as valuable as increasing funds, friends may help with the increasing of funds if there are fund raisers.

It appears as though the platform you use is one of the most important parts of a social media campaign. According to Mobilecause.com , Instagram posts generate 58 times more engagement per follower than on Facebook and 120 times than on twitter. If you’ re going to pay someone to push your nonprofit on social media, it would be better for them to spend their time using a plateform that engages more people.

Living in Michigan, we have a lot of corporations which center around the car industry. A great example of one of these car corporations which has donated a lot is the Ford Motor Company. The Ford Motor Company states that they are “committed to creating a better world by making people’s lives better in communities around the globe. We support hundreds of nonprofits with innovative, sustainable programs that feed the hungry, provide disaster relief, assist military veterans, and celebrate local traditions and diverse cultural activities designed to enrich our communities and bring people together. “Since we began our operations in 1949, we have invested nearly $1.5 billion in civic organizations around the world to help drive a brighter future. We focus our efforts on three key areas: Community Life, Education and Safety” (Ford. 2017.Ford Fund.)

Corporate funds are useful to any organization as long as the corporation supports the mission of the organization. Many businesses are willing to contribute gifts-in-kind or funding but the organization should be aware of regulations so they don’t owe unrelated business income tax (UBIT) and the organization should also have the right partner to avoid a bad reputation, structure the agreement to avoid any liability and making sure the mission is prioritized over revenue (Tysiac, 2016)
